1989 Howard County Times: "In Memory of King": Lauren and her mom attended a vigil in honor of Dr. King. Lauren was raised to value service and commitment to uplift our community.

Lauren went on to graduate from the University of Maryland at College Park and the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Lauren was raised in a home in which working hard, serving the public, and breaking glass ceilings were valued. Lauren grew up watching as her dad reached the highest levels of management in a large, Hopkins-affiliated research center - unheard of for a black man at the time.
Lauren’s mom was raised in a military family and worked in local government offices alongside the police department for years.

For more than 22 years, Lauren has been married to her husband, a proud Baltimore County native and avid Ravens fan who still remembers the Mayflower trucks leaving in the middle of the night taking away his beloved Baltimore Colts.
A proud mom, Lauren has continuously served as a parent volunteer at both sons' schools each year and spends most nights helping with homework.
Lauren and her family live in Baltimore County with their family dog and, at the insistence of their youngest son - two geckos.
