Lipscomb talks tough and fair on criminal justice: holding violent repeat and domestic abusers accountable; holding enabling guardians accountable for juveniles committing crimes; advancing data analytic metrics to better fund the SAO and drive down attrition, implementing community engagement team, keeping seniors safe.
Shellenberger states there is no crime problem in Baltimore County, violent crime is down, his cell phone represents enough technology.

Man accused of forging documents to secure release from prison charged by Lauren Lipscomb
"Grimes actually filed what's called a petition for writ of actual innocence in March 2024, and when he filed that petition, he attached a couple of documents to that motion," Chief Lipscomb explained. "...it looked suspicious.'"
This prompted an investigation, which Lipscomb said was turned over to homicide detectives from the Baltimore Police Department, resulting in charges.
Lipscomb emphasized that this case could be the "tip of the iceberg" concerning individuals like Grimes who exploit the criminal justice system.
After convicted murderer released from prison on probation and opens fire turning an evening commute into the wild west, three attempts to convict fell short. Lauren Lipscomb stepped in and produced evidence at violation of probation hearing thereby sending the convicted murderer back to prison for life.

After investigating for nearly 5 years, Lipscomb, who heads the chief of the conviction integrity unit, said that in Feb. 2019, they received a recantation from a witness at
"It's what I consider to be almost an autopsy of a case, of a criminal trial. That's really what I do," Lipscomb explained. After further examination of his case, Langhorne was finally released on Monday.

Lipscomb was inclined to set the case aside, but a few things about the transcript struck her as odd.
After interviewing dozens of witnesses, investigating the crime scene, and reexaming evidence, Lipscomb determined Chestnut, Watkins and Stewart were factually innocent.
She formally made her recommendation through a motion in Court and the Court granted her motion.
Lipscomb dismissed the murder case resulting in the release of all 3 men.
Lipscomb nicknamed this case, the Harlem Park 3. It stuck.
