NEW APPROACH. EXPERIENCED PROSECUTOR. COMMUNITY AND VICTIMS FIRST.
Lauren Lipscomb has years of criminal prosecution experience holding violent offenders accountable while bringing victims the justice they deserve.
Lauren understands that Baltimore County is ready for a new approach. Prosecution strategies need to change alongside the evolving community we are here to serve. In Baltimore County, prosecution strategies have remained the same for decades. To effectively advance prosecution strategies, Baltimore County needs an actual, experienced public safety prosecutor. Lauren has the proven experience to deliver results that meet the current needs of Baltimore County.
Proven Courtroom Experience
Not all courtroom experience is the same. Lauren has prosecuted hundreds of bench trials, dozens of jury trials and has litigated thousands of hearings. Lauren's experience in litigating criminal justice proceedings involve the full range of criminal offenses from car thefts and domestic violence assaults to non-fatal shootings and murders. Lauren's public safety-based prosecution experience is what Baltimore County needs in its next top prosecutor.
Proven Investigative Experience
Effective prosecution requires the experience to know when further investigation is needed to most accurately evaluate the facts and evidence. Lauren has extensive experience in successfully directing collaborative prosecutorial and police investigations. Lauren evaluates each case considering whether further investigation is needed to enhance preparation or to evaluate critical legal questions.
Proven Leadership and Innovation Experience
For years, Lauren has worked in various management roles within the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office. A seasoned leader with high level administration experience in an office of over 400 staff, Lauren knows how to effectively run an office and will be ready on day 1 to oversee the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office of approximately 140 hard working staff. Lauren fully understands that effective management of a large office requires actual experience in managing a large office. In the City, Lauren doubled the number of staff in the Conviction Integrity Unit, restructured the larger unit into sub-units and developed training and protocols for each area. Today, the Conviction Integrity Unit boasts high success rates in holding violent, repeat offenders accountable, preventing the most violent offenders from obtaining undue early release from prison, aggressively holding domestic abusers accountable and ensuring that those who were wrongfully convicted are released.
Lauren is proud to be a lifelong Marylander. She first attended school in Howard County before attending middle and high school in Baltimore County starting in 1987. From an early age, Lauren was taught the value of public service and the importance of justice for all.
Lauren went on to graduate from the University of Maryland at College Park and the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Lauren was raised in a home in which working hard, serving the public, and breaking glass ceilings were valued. Lauren grew up watching as her dad reached the highest levels of management in a large, Hopkins-affiliated research center - unheard of for a black man at the time.
Lauren’s mom was raised in a military family and worked in local government offices alongside the police department for years.
For more than 22 years, Lauren has been married to her husband, a proud Baltimore County native and avid Ravens fan who still remembers the Mayflower trucks leaving in the middle of the night taking away his beloved Baltimore Colts.
A proud mom, Lauren has continuously served as a parent volunteer at both sons' schools each year and spends most nights helping with homework.
Lauren and her family live in Baltimore County with their family dog and, at the insistence of their youngest son - two geckos.
1996, Lauren, a college student at the University of Maryland at College Park, proudly wore her Clinton96 shirt. The 1996 presidential election would be the first in which Lauren was of age to vote.
